Our team of registered osteopaths are all committed to post graduate continued professional development in order that they can constantly update and expand their knowledge and skill.

If you would like to chat with an osteopath, please feel free to call us. The osteopath will do his or her best to give you impartial advice. Even if you went ahead and made an appointment and came along to the practice for an assessment, there is no obligation for you to have any treatment and therefore to incur any fee.

Paul Barratt

Paul Barratt DO, PgDip, MSc

Registered Osteopath, graduated as an Osteopath in 1987 from the British School of Osteopathy (BSO), London. He is a founder member of the Scottish Osteopathic Society and a professional member of Back Care. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in pain studies from Queen Margaret University and a Master of Science degree in pain management from the University of Edinburgh, giving him a deep understanding of the principles and practice of pain management leading to better patient outcomes. Paul is also an honorary clinical tutor at the University of Edinburgh medical school.

Tara Drummond

Tara Drummond, DO, ND, LicAc, MBAcc

Tara has 25 years experience as an osteopath graduating from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991. She works in outpatient department of the BMI Carrick Glen Hospital, in Ayr as well as here in Edinburgh. She first became interested in osteopathy at the age of 13 when her Mum hurt her back and was successfully treated by an osteopath.

She once spent time in China studying acupuncture and working and observing in the orthopaedic department in Shandong University teaching hospital.

Tara believes in a relaxed person-centred approach to her osteopathic treatments.

Kenneth McLean

Kenneth McLean, BSc (Hons) Ost

Kenneth also graduated from the British School of Osteopathy, in 2000. He has gained experience working in a large clinic in London as well as in his own clinic before moving to Scotland. His postgraduate studies have included paediatrics and ergonomics and he maintains an active interest in sports injuries and rehabilitation, providing sports injury support for various events including the Edinburgh to North Berwick Road Race.

Julia Edmonds

Julia Edmonds BA(Hons), LicAc, MBAcC

Julia Edmonds has been in private practice in Edinburgh since qualifying in 1998 and offers Traditional Acupuncture at the Edinburgh Osteopathic Surgery. Julia aims to ensure that your experience of acupuncture is successful, relaxing and enjoyable. Acupuncture is used to treat pain and many other different types of conditions and illnesses, both physical and emotional. Julia is a Member of the British Acupuncture Council.

Shona Mathieson

Shona Mathieson BSc

Shona is a highly qualified massage therapist offering a wide range of massage: deep tissue, sports, pregnancy, hot stone and aromatherapy. She gained her BSc degree in Complementary Therapies in 2005 and enjoys working alongside our osteopaths to provide people with optimum care. She has experience in working with many problems including sciatica, low back pain, headaches, neck pain, carpal tunnel, poor posture and much more. In addition, she has a particular interest in working with pregnant women and new mothers and holds a postgraduate qualification with Jing Advanced pre- and post-natal massage.

Colin McLelland

Colin McLelland BSc(Hons) MSc MSCP

Colin McLelland is a leading Chartered and State-Registered Physiotherapist, Sports Scientist and Performance specialist and has considerable experience working with National Governing Bodies (SFA; SRU), SPL, Championship teams and elite athletes. He also lectures at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. Colin has extensive experience of working in highly pressurised, results orientated sports environments and in turn has created a reputation of an enthusiastic, passionate, dependable individual with a desire to succeed. As a Physiotherapist, Sports Scientist and Performance consultant, he draws upon his extensive knowledge and expertise to help you to get "Back2Fitness" as soon as possible!

Carolyn Morris BSc MCSP

Carolyn works with Colin as a Chartered and State-registered Physiotherapist and as a Sports Scientist for Back2Fitness. She is an experienced physiotherapist and also works for the SFA and Scottish Hockey. Previously, Carolyn was a semi-professional and international Scottish footballer.
